Mia Bergstrom '24 Joins Saint Viator Basketball's 1K Point Club

Congratulations to senior shooting guard Mia Bergstrom on joining Saint Viator Girls’ Basketball’s esteemed 1,000 point club this week! She achieved this historic milestone during Wednesday’s opening 23-24 season game against Palatine in the Dundee-Crown Thanksgiving Tournament.

Just a week after committing to playing basketball at Saint Louis University next year, Mia threw her 1,000th point on a free-throw at her 81st game as varsity Lion.

“Mia is a sharp shooter with an extremely quick release,” said Assistant Coach Maggie Miskowicz. “Her teammates are her number one fans and so many have contributed to this amazing accomplishment.”

Having received offers from schools like Valparaiso University, Northern Illinois University, Cleveland State, Murray State, and University of Evansville, Mia has proven herself to be an invaluable asset to her team.

“Seeing Mia as a freshman to now, I can really appreciate how she has evolved into a great leader both by example and vocally,” said Miskowicz.

As the newest member of Saint Viator’s 1,000 Point Club, she joins an exclusive but familiar group that includes her sister Joy ’22, who currently sits as the school’s all-time leading scorer. Other 1,000 Point Club alumni members include Nora Ahram ‘22, Myia Clark ’18, and current Assistant Coach Denise Walker ’96.
