The Summer Work Study and Internship Program (SWSIP) at Saint Viator offers a great opportunity to expand your knowledge, gain valuable real-world professional experience, and expand your resume. All of the funds earned during your internship will go toward your tuition at Saint Viator.
What to Expect as a Student Intern
You will meet with the director of the SWSIP to get an overview of the program, and share some of your career interests. You will have the opportunity to work at one of our partner organizations based on your location and your goals. Once you’re accepted into the program, you’ll interview with the hiring manager of your internship site and they will discuss the job expectations, including the company’s dress code and your work hours.
The internship will include 240 total work-study hours over the course of a 6-week period. (You’ll work 8 hour days, 5 days a week, completing assigned duties.) Positions vary and past participants have worked in the medical, financial and legal fields as well as technology, performing arts, non-profit, marketing, and many more types of organizations.
Eligibility/Requirements
This program is designed for students who have a demonstrated financial need. Because of the professional level of the internship program and our partners, we are seeking students who have a high level of maturity and a history of exceptional academic performance and attendance. There are a limited number of positions available, and priority is given to rising sophomores currently enrolled at Saint Viator. Incoming freshmen are encouraged to submit up to two letters of recommendation to be considered for the program.
Compensation
Students may earn up to $3,000 tax-free toward tuition for the upcoming academic year. After you complete the summer program, tuition reimbursement will be credited to your student account in the fall.
