Back-to-School Message from Father Dan Lydon, C.S.V. '73

Dear Saint Viator families,

We are off and running at Saint Viator! Today our freshmen will be here for their orientation led by our LINK Crew. Monday we will host an All-School Orientation for all of our students. This will be an opportunity to begin our program of strengthening school spirit here at Saint Viator. We will provide the students with breakout sessions where they will be reminded of our policies and procedures, but also our values and traditions. I am particularly excited that our students will learn our fight song. The pandemic put a serious dent in the passing on of Saint Viator traditions. It is time we get caught up. I thank Mr. Eric Levin, our new Assistant Principal for Student Life and Activities, for his enthusiasm and hard work at planning the day of orientation.

Sunday, August 20th will be another opportunity to welcome our freshmen and their families to our community. On that day, we will host the first of four Family Masses for the year. Mass will be at 5:00 p.m. in our Chapel and will include a special blessing of our freshmen. After Mass, we will dedicate our Campus Ministry Office as the Judy Amberg Ministry Center. Judy has served the Sacred Heart of Mary and Saint Viator High School communities for 50 years. At Sacred Heart of Mary, Judy served as teacher and administrator. At Saint Viator most of her years were serving our young people in the Campus Ministry department.

Welcome, Class of 2027! And to all in our community—please consider joining us for Mass on August 20!

God’s blessings,

Fr. Dan Lydon, C.S.V. '73
President
