Saint Viator Names Al Biancalana Head Boys Basketball Coach

Saint Viator High School is pleased to announce the hiring of Al Biancalana as the school's new Head Boys Basketball Coach.

Coach Biancalana brings more than four decades of coaching experience at both the high school and collegiate levels, including 25 years as a high school head coach and 10 years as an NCAA Division I assistant coach. Most recently, he served as an assistant varsity basketball coach at St. Patrick High School, where he helped lead the program to a 100–33 record over four seasons, including a third-place finish in the 2025 IHSA Class 3A State Tournament and the most regular-season wins in school history during the 2025–2026 season.

His collegiate coaching career includes leadership roles at the University of Illinois Chicago and Bradley University, where he helped recruit and develop two future NBA players. As a high school head coach, Biancalana guided programs to five conference championships at DeKalb High School and a California Division V State Championship at Washington Union High School. He was inducted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2015.

In addition to leading the Lions basketball program, Coach Biancalana will serve as an Assistant Dean and College & Career Advisor. In this role, he will support student conduct and school culture while providing guidance in college planning, career exploration, and future pathway development.
