Saint Viator High School proudly congratulates Miles Waddell ’27 on being named a Semifinalist in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Miles is among more than 16,000 academically talented high school seniors nationwide selected as Semifinalists in the 72nd annual competition. Semifinalists now have the opportunity to continue in the competition for approximately 6,700 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $24 million. About 95 percent of Semifinalists are expected to advance to Finalist standing.
Throughout his time at Saint Viator, Miles has distinguished himself through academic achievement, leadership, athletics, and involvement across the school community. He has pursued a rigorous course load consisting entirely of Honors and AP courses throughout high school. Last spring, he was also recognized with the Dartmouth Book Award at Saint Viator’s Underclassmen Awards Ceremony.
His involvement extends well beyond the classroom. Miles is the founder and president of Saint Viator’s Morgan’s Message club and serves as a national representative for Morgan’s Message, an organization dedicated to supporting the mental health of student-athletes.
Miles is also a multi-sport student-athlete who has competed in soccer, basketball, lacrosse, and tennis during his Saint Viator career. In addition, he is involved in numerous clubs and organizations, including Querbes Scholars, National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Math Team, LINK Crew, FIRE Crew, Viator Voice, and Grill Club.
The National Merit Scholarship Program recognizes students for exceptional academic ability and potential for success in rigorous college studies. To advance to Finalist standing, Semifinalists must meet several requirements, including submitting a detailed scholarship application highlighting their academic record, school and community involvement, leadership, honors, and achievements.
Congratulations to Miles on this outstanding achievement and on representing Saint Viator among this year’s National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists!
