Saint Viator Student Group Holds Demonstration for Social Justice

Members of the Justice League today held a march and demonstration to voice their opposition to racial injustice. A group of students marched from the school to the near-by Viatorian Province Center before returning to the school for a discussion on the topic.

“The leadership of the student-led Justice League at the school felt strongly that as followers of Catholic social teaching, it was incumbent upon them to have their voices heard,” said Br. John Eustice, Vice President of Viatorian Identity & Mission. “Our students are ignited to express our Catholic, Viatorian faith through study, prayer, and transformative action, and moments like this exemplify the commitment to stand up for the life and dignity of the human person. Viatorians are proud of these young people.”

The students carried signs they had made for what they called a non-partisan event. In keeping with COVID-prevention protocols, students wore masks and maintained social distancing both inside and outside during the march.

Following the demonstration, the students returned to the school for a discussion on current social conditions and the role they can play in improving conditions for all people impacted by racial injustice.
