Meet New Dean of Students, Roy Curry, Jr.

Roy Curry, Jr, was named the next Dean of Students at Saint Viator High School and begins his new role on July 14, 2025. Shortly after, the new Dean met with the Saint Viator administration, and he released a statement, “I am extremely excited for the opportunity to join the staff of Saint Viator on behalf of all scholars who attend. I will do my best as the Dean of Students to serve, support, invest, and inspire our Lions every day to be the best students they can be.”

Saint Viator President Ryan Aiello and his leadership staff searched for a Dean who would be the best fit for Saint Viator students. “We wanted a well-respected and compassionate leader and mentor who also understands our Viatorian values and will support our students.”

Curry was most recently the Dean of Students at Art in Motion School in Chicago, where he managed behavioral support, character development, and provided an intentional approach to student behavior. He also supported teachers with classroom management techniques and skill-building to create a consistent school climate conducive to student learning and growth.

Some of Curry’s other professional experiences include Assistant Principal of Culture at North Lawndale College Prep, and Dean of Culture at Golder College Prep, as well as Assistant Principal and Director of Admissions at Urban Prep Charter Academy.

Outside of his professional background, Curry is very involved in volunteer activities at both Loops Care and Mindfulness Leader, where he serves on the Board and provides training programs that align young minds to aid the development of emotional intelligence.

Curry is very proud and thankful to his amazing parents, Roy Curry Sr. and Carolyn Curry, who instilled in him an innate passion for educating young people. He is also a proud dad of “one amazing daughter, River Curry, who is graduating this spring from the University of Toronto.”

A graduate of Jackson State University, and a product of Catholic grade school and High School, Curry is a “lifelong believer and follower of Jesus and values the gift of working with students. I absolutely and wholeheartedly accept the weight and impact I will have on all students who will cross my path. My work, as an educator, is a gift. I will support, push, and educate our Saint Viator students daily.”
