Senior Named National Honor Society Scholar

This April, Saint Viator senior Adelyn Schuch was named a National Honor Society (NHS) Scholar in recognition of her strong commitment to the four pillars of NHS: scholarship, service, leadership, and character.

In addition to her membership in the Saint Viator chapter of the National Honor Society, Addie has been inducted into the World Language Honor Society, has been named to Saint Viator’s Presidential Honor Roll, and was nominated for a Rotary Leadership Award.

Addie plays lacrosse both for the Illinois True State Team and for Saint Viator’s varsity team. She is also a member of the varsity dance team and the LINK Leadership Crew. Her extensive service includes an organization she founded, Addie’s Angels, which raises money and awareness for Juvenile Epilepsy. Addie was inspired to begin this charity because a family member was diagnosed with Rolandic Epilepsy, and she wanted to learn more.

Addie has also volunteered as a Hersey Lunch Buddy Leader for developmentally delayed students and has participated in The Tim Tebow Foundation’s Night to Shine, the Hersey Love Bus, and the Clearbrook Hope for the Holidays initiative.

Math teacher Mrs. Brigitte Brankin praises Addie’s great work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to challenge herself in the classroom, while Mr. Eric Levin, her AP US History teacher, remembers, “her intuitive, nuanced analysis of historical events clearly explained the complexities that come with studying US history, which proved her college-readiness and ability to question our world today in a meaningful, productive manner."

Next year, Addie plans to major in international business and analytic communications and to minor in Spanish. During quarantine last year, Addie got a head start on her college plans by completing a course on brand management offered through the London School of Business.

Saint Viator congratulates you, Addie, on your recognition as a National Honor Society Scholar.
