Alumni Couples Spotlight: Celebrating SV & SHM Sweethearts

Andrew ’92 and Maria ’92 Yonkus

“It’s hard to believe that this picture was taken nearly 30 years ago, brought together by none other than AP Calculus. It seems like just yesterday that we were walking the halls at Saint Viator and “passing notes” in-between classes. Our children walk those same halls now, and our favorite part is reconnecting and reminiscing with other alumni parents and staff. There are so many of us that are still a prominent part of the community.” - Maria Yonkus ’92

Peter ’93 and Ella ’93 Konopka

"Pete and I first met at Saint Viator in 1989 at Mass in the chapel of Freshmen Orientation. As Freshmen, we were both excited for new beginnings and experiences and that was a great way to start. We were always friends throughout the years and then it really began spring of senior year when our relationship grew. Pete was not only my boyfriend but also my best friend. As time went on, we went our separate ways but found each other again. We married in August 2000, with 10 Saint Viator alumni there to help us to celebrate. To this day, all those people are still a part of our lives and a true blessing. We are grateful that Saint Viator brought us all together, and we value those friendships. We are now the proud parents of three amazing children, two of which attend Saint Viator, Alex ’22, Allie ’24, and Lilly (6th grader at Our Lady of the Wayside). Saint Viator will always hold a very special place in our heart and in our family, and for that we are thankful." - Ella Konopka ’93

Larissa Prociuk ’93 and Bill Miller ’93

Larissa Prociuk ’93 and Bill Miller ’93 met their senior year at Saint Viator High School. Both were in the Spanish Club which was run by their teacher and Larissa’s mom, “Doña.” Sparks began to fly when they both volunteered to sell nachos and churros to raise money for the club. One day, Larissa saw Bill in the library and sat across from him to study. This was the start of their story. Soon after, they went on a double date with another couple from school. The four friends went ice skating and then enjoyed pancakes at Walker Brothers. Larissa remembers how months later Bill left a rose and note in her locker asking her to the prom. She still has the rose, and after all of these years, the two are inseparable! Larissa and Bill now live in North Carolina. They have two sons, Nicholas (13) and Adrian (8). Both boys attend school at St. Catherine of Siena. They have been told to be nice to the girls because one day, they might just be married to one another! (Story submitted by Larissa Prociuk ’93)
