Athletic Booster Club Sportsperson of the Month: December 2019
The Saint Viator Boosters Club December 2019 Sportsperson(s) of the Month is awarded to the Saint Viator Dance Team!
Through Coach Julia Herrmann, the dance girls learned about a very special “tiny dancer” named Teresa. Teresa dances her heart out at her dance studio in Pittsburgh, PA, where Coach Julia used to dance. Little Teresa was born with a rare heart condition that required numerous surgeries before the age of 2 and was left with only half a heart; but, you would never know it because Teresa is ALL heart!
Unfortunately, 7-year-old Teresa was recently diagnosed with a very aggressive cancer and has a long and intensive surgery later this month.
The Saint Viator Dance Team heard about Teresa’s story and made cards and sent a care package that included puzzles, books, coloring books, markers, a bracelet maker and a very special rosary from the Vatican. Teresa and her parents were so surprised and delighted with the thoughtfulness of the Dance Team!
The Dance Team will attend 7:30 a.m. Mass on Friday, January 24, to pray for Teresa before her surgery. Anyone in the Saint Viator community is invited to attend and pray together on January 24 in the chapel.
Teresa’s parents started a foundation called Teresa’s Hope 4 Hearts where they raise money for the Children’s Hospital Foundation. http://www.teresashope4hearts.org.
