Saint Viator Math Team Earns Top 10 Finishes at State Championship
Saint Viator High School is proud to congratulate the members of the Math Team on an outstanding competition season, highlighted by two top-10 finishes at the ICTM (Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics) State Championship, held on April 26 at Illinois State University.
Competing in Division 2A, the Frosh/Soph 8-Person Team earned an impressive 4th Place, while the Junior/Senior 8-Person Team finished 10th, with both groups taking home medals for their achievements. Overall, Saint Viator placed 15th in the state out of 48 schools in its division.
The Math Team is led by faculty coaches Mrs. Brigette Brankin and Mrs. Cheryl Nowak, with Fr. Arnold Perham, C.S.V., serving as the coach for the Oral Team.
The road to state began at the Regional competition on February 22 at Niles West High School, where Saint Viator teams delivered strong performances across the board:
Junior/Senior 8-Person Team – 3rd Place
Algebra 1 Team – 4th Place
Precalculus Team – 4th Place
Calculator Team – 4th Place
Frosh/Soph 2-Person Team – 4th Place (Daniel Fisher, Natalia Chacia)
In addition to team honors, several students earned individual recognition:
Caleb Stout – 7th Place (Algebra 1)
Jane Dolsen – 7th Place (Algebra 2)
Raewon Kim – 8th Place (Precalculus)
A total of seven event teams and one individual advanced to the State Championship:
