The Lion’s Pride Award is an award presented to a senior class member of student council for outstanding service over three or four years to their class council and I.C.C. and who has truly demonstrated what is meant by Lion’s Pride. The recipient of this award was chosen by the members of Student Council and I.C.C. and is presented to Daniel Thompson.

East Suburban Catholic Conference Scholar-Athlete Award

Each school in the East Suburban Catholic Conference recognizes ten scholar-athletes for the Scholar-Athlete award. These ten students are the highest-ranking athletes by cumulative grade point average after seven semesters at their respective schools. To qualify, they must participate in their sport their senior year.

The Golden Lion Award (Three Seasons/four-year student-athletes)

It requires skill, time management and commitment to be a student and an athlete at Saint Viator High School. Academic demands, practices, games and other responsibilities require a student-athlete to plan carefully and set priorities.

In 2006, the Athletic Booster Club established an award to recognize the dedicated student-athletes who participate in a sport all three seasons for all four years of high school.

Catholic Relief Services Award

As a Catholic Relief Services Gold School, Saint Viator is committed to bringing Catholic Social Teaching awareness and lived experiences to our students. Eastern Illinois University Academic Challenge Competition:

Academic Challenge is a test-based competition hosted by the Physics Department and Pre-Engineering Program at Eastern Illinois University. Offered to high school students, subjects tested are biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering graphics, English, mathematics and physics. This year’s sectional award winners are:

President’s Volunteer Service Award:

The President’s Volunteer Service Awards are presented to students who have displayed exceptional dedication to volunteer service. Their many hours of service exemplify a commitment to the mission of Saint Viator High School and a conviction that service to others is a major element of the Christian life. Through their efforts, they have demonstrated values that make our country strong and help to build a culture of service and responsibility. The BronzeService Award is given to those who complete between 100 and 199 hours of service.

National Hispanic Recognition Program

The NHRP was initiated in 1983 to identify outstanding Hispanic/Latino high school students. This year, the NHRP is recognizing nearly 5,000 students selected from a pool of over 200,000 students who took the 2017 PSAT/NMSQT/PAA and identified themselves as Hispanic/Latino. Students recognized by the NHRP are at least one-quarter Hispanic/Latino (based on the program’s definition) and have achieved a minimum PSAT/NMSQT/PAA score for their region. Students with GPAs of 3.5 or higher are designated as Scholars, and those with GPAs of 3.0 to 3.49 as Honorable Mentions.

The Frank M. Covey, Jr. Award

Frank M. Covey, Jr. was the first President of the Saint Viator High School Board of Trustees.  To honor him, the Frank M. Covey Jr. Award for Meritorious Service to Saint Viator High School was established. We honor students who have maintained a satisfactory grade point average, have participated in co-curricular activities, and at the same time, have consistently demonstrated a willingness to volunteer time and energy to be of service to the whole school.

The Andrew Johnstone Leadership Award and the Christopher Erdman Award

In honor of Andrew Johnstone, Class of 1992, this award is presented by the Administration and Student Council of Saint Viator High School to a person who exhibits the qualities of leadership in school spirit, student government, athletics, academics, community and friendship, student/activities/involvement.

The Christopher Erdmann Award

This award has been instituted in honor of Christopher Erdmann, a senior of the class of 1968 who died of leukemia in the fall of that year. Subsequently, his parents initiated the Christopher Cup. This award is presented to an individual who not only is an excellent student but one who is involved in both co-curricular activities and the community as well. The senior who best exemplifies the living spirit of Saint Viator High School.
