Viator Voice and Viatome Advance to State 

Congratulations to the Viator Voice newspaper and Viatome yearbook staff, who competed in the IHSA Journalism sectional on April 1. The team took 4th place against 12 much larger schools. 

Headed to state next week are Gianna Scarsella '25, who took 3rd place in Yearbook Layout; Grace Stauder '24, who took 2nd place in Copy Editing; Anthony Pretto '23, who took 1st place in Sports Writing; and Grace Kelly '23, who took 1st place in BOTH Review Writing AND Headline Writing. 

The following students also placed in their events and contributed points to our team score:

  • Lisa Hu '23 & Carmela Martinez '24, 4th place in Yearbook Theme Development
  • Anthony Pretto '23, 6th place in News Writing
  • Ben Konopka '25, 5th place in Newspaper Design and 6th place in Feature Writing
  • Fernanda Romero '24, 6th place in Yearbook Caption Writing and 4th place in Editorial Writing
