Joy Bergstrom ‘22 Claims Title as School's All-Time Leading Scorer

Congratulations to Joy Bergstrom on becoming Saint Viator High School basketball’s all-time leading scorer!

Joy broke the school’s record of 1,695 points set by Myia Clark in 2018 at last night’s game against Carmel Catholic. She currently stands at 1,706 points with three regular season games and playoffs ahead of her. Joy had previously reached her 1000th point milestone in February 2020 and her 1,500th point milestone a few weeks ago in December.

In June 2021, Joy announced she has committed to playing basketball at the University of South Dakota next year. She is also among the list of 760 potential players, one of 12 from Illinois, specifically, to be nominated for the 2022 McDonald’s All-American Games.

Next up, however, she and her teammates will take on Marian Central Catholic tomorrow, Wednesday, Feb. 2, at 7:30 p.m. in Cahill Gym.
