September Student-Athlete of the Month: RJ Gamble '23

The Saint Viator Boosters Club is excited to announce that RJ Gamble has been named the Student-Athlete of the Month. Even though RJ is not currently in a sport (Basketball - Winter), they believed so much in what RJ is doing in remembrance of those who died on 9/11, they awarded him this honor. Congratulations, RJ!

RJ Gamble '23 is a longtime intern at SALUTE through Saint Viator's Summer Work Study and Internship Program. Leading up to the 20th anniversary of 9/11, their organization is planning a special event, "Portrait of a Soldier," and RJ is playing an important role.

In addition to an art exhibit at the Arlington Heights Memorial Library, SALUTE's 9/11 plans include a prayer service and program at First Presbyterian Church at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 11.

As part of the service, RJ will be reading an essay that he authored after interviewing families who have lost loved ones in the line of duty since 9/11/2001. Particularly powerful as RJ was not even born in 2001, apparently his ambitions to become a journalist one day have been quite clear during this process.
