Junior Earns 36 on ACT Exam

Saint Viator High School junior Christopher Rapala recently earned a score of 36 on his ACT exam. Rapala follows current junior Michael Schumacher in achieving this score.

Rapala attended Saint Margaret Mary elementary school in Algonquin. While he is still evaluating college options, Rapala intends to pursue a career in fields related to chemistry.

“Chris is a great example of our mission to educate the whole child,” said Saint Viator Principal Karen Love. “He recently became an Eagle Scout, is involved in our theater department and is also on the academic team that competed at the state level.”

Rapala’s love for chemistry has been nurtured by Saint Viator faculty member Cheryl Dispensa who Rapala recognized not only for her work as an instructor but for making the learning process fun and helping him understand the real-world applications of his interest in chemistry.

Other than several short precautionary pauses for COVID, Saint Viator has provided in-school learning for students for more than 110 days this year.

“Christopher is a very talented young man and we have done all we can to provide our students with the optimum learning environment this year, despite the pandemic,” said Love. “Generally only one-tenth of one percent of students achieve a perfect ACT score. To do so under conditions that have challenged students intellectually and emotionally speaks well to his ability.”
