Immersion Retreats

This 24-hour retreat, offered three times each year at the David Darst Center in Chicago, immerses students into real-world experiences of poverty and injustice. Students analyze and explore their experiences through the lens of Catholic social teaching. This retreat inspires a commitment to serve and a passion for social change.

A Unique Educational Experience
  • Learn about the roots of homelessness and poverty
  • Reflect on Catholic social teaching
  • Volunteer at service sites such as Catholic Charities Food Depository and Cornerstone Men’s Shelter
  • Participate in small group faith-sharing and reflection on the experience
  • Pray, reflect and journal
  • Share meals
  • Bond with others through icebreakers, games, and recreation time
