Student Advisory Group for Racial Equity & Justice Statement

Saint Viator will commit to racial equity by upholding and taking action on the need to diversify our curriculum and discuss current events that relate to racial justice to celebrate, include, and recognize a plethora of cultures, ethnicities, and races ensuring that all members feel seen and represented within the community while remaining committed to educating students.
At Saint Viator, we strive to do everything well, so that through us, Jesus may be adored and loved. This includes our commitment to diversity and solidarity. We are continually seeking ways in which we can make a Saint Viator education available to all who seek it, and by being more inclusive in our faculty, staff, administration, and student body, we can more fully provide an academic program of excellence.

Our Diversity and Solidarity efforts will broaden our students' perspectives so they are inclusive in thought and action as they seek to transform the communities they encounter. By being more inclusive of all people and ideas, we more fully commit to educating the whole person.

We have an important role to play in growing leaders who will be beacons of inclusivity for the next generation and beyond.

Viatorian spirituality is based on acknowledging and teaching all members of society. We approach our mission with an open mind, seeing the world the way others see it, and sharing the gospel to promote positive change.

Our Diversity and Solidarity Initiative is grounded in the Gospel of Jesus, our Catholic Social Teaching, and our Viatorian tradition. The principle of solidarity in Catholic teaching includes justice and the inclusion and participation of all people in all aspects of our life together.
