Saint Viator High School does not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, sex, or ethnic origin in admitting students. The following guidelines are established to provide the admissions office with parameters for accepting students to Saint Viator and establishing a waiting list in the event one becomes necessary.
- All guidelines should be consistent with the Mission of Saint Viator High School.
- Every effort should be made to attract and accept students with diverse ethnic, religious, racial and socio-economic backgrounds.
- A balanced student body of females and males is ideal.
- Priority acceptance should be given to children of alumni, siblings of current and former students, and students from our traditional Catholic "feeder" grade schools.
- Every attempt should be made to accept the maximum number of students into our honors and learning disabilities programs.
Incoming Freshman
All 8th grade graduates, regardless of race, creed, sex, or ethnic origin are eligible for admission to Saint Viator High School. An entrance test is given to prospective students annually on the 2nd Saturday of January. The results of the entrance test are received and grade school teacher recommendations are considered for course placement. An admissions committee reviews the entrance test performance of any student's score which falls in the lowest quartile. For admission, the admissions committee considers entrance test results, and weighs previous academic performance and teacher evaluations. Additional data may be required before admission is granted. The admissions committee makes the final decision concerning admission.
