Congratulations to...

  • Dana Gattone ’14, whose most recent press clippings ran in the fall edition of “Christ is Our Hope” magazine published by the Joliet Diocese, after a similar story ran last year in the Daily Herald. Both stories credited Gattone and her two eighth grade classmates with growing their science recycling experiment into a program that re-energized recycling among residents in their village of Addison. What’s more, their efforts earned them the “Green Youth Award” from the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, as well as national recognition. They earned the “President’s Environmental Youth Award” and second place from the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) in a competition sponsored by the Siemens Foundation and Discovery Education.
  • D.J. Horstmann ’12 on completing his Eagle Scout project. Earlier this fall, Horstmann led a team of Scouts in a landscaping project around the Our Lady of the Moon statue in front of Saint Viator. The mix of seasonal flowers and perennials draw attention to the statue, which originally stood in the courtyard of Sacred Heart of Mary High Morgan AndersonSchool before it merged with Saint Viator.
  • Morgan Anderson ’11 for completing the Chicago Marathon on 10-10-10. She completed the full 26.2 miles with her mother, Laura ’77, and sister, Amanda ’07. (see photo)
  • Eddie Zahrebelski ’11 on being named a National Hispanic Scholar by the College Board.
  • Kevin Nadolski ’11 for being named to the All-District Band, sponsored by the Illinois Music Educators Association. Kevin was one of only seven alto saxophones to make the District 7 band out of nearly 60 auditioning students from schools around the North and Northwest suburbs.
