Meetings
Meetings are scheduled before or after school, and occasionally during a special activity period. All meetings are announced through daily announcements and are posted on the digital message sign and in various locations throughout the school.
Saint Viator High School recognizes that it is a combined parent and student responsibility to provide the finest environment for the development of our youth. We believe that by offering programs to students that encourage them to achieve the highest standards, we can maintain an outstanding reputation in education, activities and athletics.

The student activities program exists to support, complement and enrich the personal, social and academic lives of our students. The activities program supplements a student's academic growth by providing lifelong learning experiences and a greater opportunity to develop their interests, talents and abilities beyond the classroom structure.

Goals

  • Extend and enhance student academic learning
  • Provide opportunities for students' pursuit of established interests and development of new interests
  • Enhance the opportunity to develop responsibility, leadership, fellowship, cooperation and self-direction
  • Promote school spirit and pride
  • Recognize students for many different types of achievement
  • Provide for widespread participation by the entire student body
  • Foster more effective teamwork and communication between students and faculty/administration

Membership
Any student may join many of these various activities by simply attending meetings and participating in the activities of the club. Some organizations require tryouts, are by invitation only, or are elected positions.

Eligibility
IHSA eligibility: As a member of the Illinois High School Association, Saint Viator High School requires that each student must be passing 25 credit hours of school work per week (2.5 credits) to be eligible for co-curricular activities. Teachers will evaluate a student's performance each Wednesday while his/her sport or activity is in session. If the student is declared ineligible, his/her period of eligibility will be a minimum of one week, beginning on a Monday and concluding the following Sunday.

In order to practice or participate in a co-curricular/sports activity, students must be in attendance no later than 10:00 AM or have an early dismissal no earlier than 1:00 PM on the day of the activity.

Lion Code of Behavior
LIONS are young men and women of Saint Viator who pride themselves as students and members of our community. They not only represent themselves and their families but also their fellow classmates, the school, and their moderators and coaches. They will strive to be leaders and conduct themselves in such a manner as to be praised as exemplary young men and women.

Student Pledge
“As a member of the Saint Viator High School community, I promise to conduct myself in a manner that reflects positive Christian values.  I will respect others at all times – my fellow students, my parents(s)/guardian and teachers, coaches and moderators.  I will demand a 100% effort of myself in the classroom and co-curricular activities.  I will accept responsibility for my own actions and report any threats or harassment of others, which endangers our school community.  I will follow the rules and guidelines in the Parent-Student Handbook.  I make this commitment to myself and to you, my classmates, to always be a Lion bringing honor to my family, my school and myself.”
