2010 OPERATION TEEN SAFE DRIVING

Safe Driving Tips
Check out these short one-minute videos to learn some valuable information on how to be safe in your vehicle.

Beginning December 1, 2009 and going through February 27, 2010, Saint Viator High School will be involved in the 2010 Operation Teen Safe Driving program.

This student-led initiative will create awareness for teen drivers in the areas of seat belt use, excess speed, distraction while driving (texting, cell phone use, passengers, etc.), impaired driving, or lack of experience. Since many of our students travel long distances to school each day, another major focus of this campaign will create awareness of the obstacles they encounter.

Our program will be using the Ford Motor Company Fund “Ford Motor Driving Skills for Life” curriculum, The Allstate Foundation’s “Keep the Drive” curriculum, local law enforcement officers and departments, and IDOT to help get this message to our fellow students.

This is the third year of the Operation Teen Safe Driving program, which is making a difference in the lives of teens across the state. With a 40 percent reduction in teen deaths from 2007 to 2008, it is clear that this program works and is making the roadways safer for everyone. Lives saved spell success!

This program is lead by seniors Erick Diaz, Janet Jozwiak, Christine Julius and Richard McLoughlin.
