Competition Update
Our Varsity Lionettes received a 1st place trophy in both Poms Open Dance and Hip Hop categories in the IDTA regional competition on January 15 at Waubonsie Valley High School. Junior Kelly Dunne, received a "Rising Star" award for her performance on the team. This is the first of 5 competitions in 2012.

Lionette Overview
The Saint Viator Pom Pons squad consists of members from all grade levels. Tryouts are held in April of the preceding school year, and the team is active throughout the fall and winter athletic seasons. The Lionettes begin training in the summer, working on both dance technique and choreography.

The Lionettes perform pre-game and during halftime at all home football and basketball games, as well as school pep assemblies. They compete in a variety of genres, including POMS, hip hop and jazz, at UDA and IDTA events throughout the Chicagoland area. The season culminates in March with the State Competition held at the University of Illinois in Champaign, IL.

The Lionettes provide service to the community as a group, supporting a variety of charitable causes throughout the season.

The philosophy of this team is to grow as a family and a squad that is filled with respect and support for one another. All-team activities are scheduled throughout the 10-month season.

The Saint Viator Pom Pons squad has earned high marks for the past 14 years throughout the Chicago metropolitan area and the State of Illinois. They continue to improve and reinvent themselves as a team each year.

Participation Requirements
Attendance is required at summer camp, as well as two practices a week for the majority of the summer. During the school year, practices run three times a week from September through mid-March. Additional practices may be added during competition season. The team performs at all home football and basketball games and school pep assemblies. Each member is expected to meet the standards set forth in the Saint Viator handbook and follow the constitution set forth by the Saint Viator Pom Pons program. Attendance is mandatory at the initial meeting for all students involved in athletic programs, and each dancer is expected to complete all school service requirements before practicing with the team.
