December 20, 2011 – 7 to 3 win over St Rita
Playing one of their best games of the year, Saint Viator blew out their Catholic League rivals and moved into a first place tie with the Mustangs at 12-4-1 in the last game before Christmas break. Jeremy Linzing led the way with 2 goals and 2 assists, as linemates David Kellner (1g, 2a) and Robert Renner (3a) both had 3 points. With contributions up and down the roster, it was a complete team win with goals from John Campanelli, Patrick Gregory, Michael Decker and Ryan Santorsola. Robert Schmidt stopped 33 shots for the win in net.

Overall record at the break is 32-10-4. Next up is the Blackhawk Charities Holiday Tournament featuring the top teams in the area.

The week that was for the Junior Lions brought forth some very good and very sad news. The week started out with the revelation that assistant captain Patrick McCann is out for the season after surgery to repair a broken ankle suffered in a contest in the first week in January. Standout freshman forward Isaiah Sands is also lost for the remainder of the season after surgery to repair a torn ligament in his arm that was cut by a skate blade in last week's victory against New Trier. read more
